Two Vases

I hope that everyone had a wonderful week and is having a great summer so far.  Summer is one of my favorite seasons even though it can get pretty hot here in Southern California. One of the reasons I like summer is because that is when we plan have our family vacations.  We have two planned and am looking forward to some time away.  :)  Well today I would like to share with you two vases.  The first one is the one that I put together for a friend that let me borrow some of her yarn for a project that the students on my caseload were working on.  I punched out two different kinds of flowers using card stock, had each student write their name on a petal, and put glue dots on the flowers to put on a lollipop that is attached to a long stick.  The long stick comes in handy as the stem for the flower.  This is how the bouquet of flowers turned out.  (My apologies for the little shadow on the corner of the picture.)

The second vase that I would like to share is one that I received from a parent of one of my students.

It's such a clever idea for her to attach a bunch of pencils on the vase.  Of course the flowers were beautiful. Thanks for stopping by to see what I have to share.  Have a fun, crafty, and blessed weekend!

An Asian Card and a Belated Celebration

Happy Monday!  I hope that all of you had a relaxing weekend and was able to do some crafting.  I didn't do any crafting this weekend, but I did have a very nice one.  Before I share with you a few pictures of my weekend I wanted to share with a picture of the card that I made for someone from my church that went on  trip.  I thought it would be fun to make him an Asian themed card since he is going to China.

I covered the picture on the top part of the easel  because it has a picture of my Sunday School class. (I prefer not posting pictures of kids on my blog.)  On the last Sunday that he was at church before he left for his trip,  I gave him the card from my Sunday School class to remind him that we will be praying for him as he is in China for the next few months. Okay, not onto some pictures of my weekend.  Last night my family and extended family finally had time to get together for my b-day.  Yes, it is a very belated b-day celebration since my b-day was back in April.  We went to a buffet and had an ono time together.

Here a picture of some of the food that we enjoyed

and of me making a chocolate dipped strawberry in the chocolate fountain.  It was so much fun to make and super ono to eat.  :)

Have a great week everyone!

Gifts From the Heart

Happy first day of summer!  Today was officially the last day of work for me for a little more than two months.  So happy to have a little break from meetings and paperwork.  Even though I won't miss the work I will definitely miss the kids on my caseload and my co-workers.  Each year I like to give some of my co-workers a gift to express my appreciation for their support this year.  As usual as for my end of the year gift to them I like to have a Hawaiian theme.  As you probably remember I gave the same coconuts for my b-day party favors and the same chocolate coconut patties to my friends that were visiting from SF.  It was so much fun giving these out previously that I thought it would be a good idea to give the same items out to some of my co-workers.

I was not able to get enough of the coconuts and patties so I also purchased some water bottles that have tikis and hibiscus carved on them.  I included a Hawaiian punch mix for fun.

Here is a close up picture of the tags that I made.

Along with giving my co-worker's gifts I also give the kids on my caseload that graduated a card and a gift.  This year I decided to make a card with our school mascot on the front for each of them.

One of my co-workers and I went out to lunch yesterday to celebrate the end of our year.

It has been a blessing working with the kids, their parents and my co-workers.  I look forward to my time off to be refreshed to work with them all again.  Have a fun, relaxing, and safe summer everyone.  Let the fun begin!!!  :)

A Memorable and Ono Father's Day

I hope that everyone had a memorable day celebrating Father's Day.  My family and I had a nice time honoring the special men that God has placed in our lives.  On Friday, we celebrated with my hubby at Disneyland.  Then on Saturday my mom, sisters, my BILs and the four of us took my dad out to dinner to a Chinese restaurant of his choice.  On Sunday, we went over to my FIL's house for lunch.  All the holidays always includes lots of ono food and Father's Day of course was not different.  Out of all the food I ate over the weekend my favorites are the steam chicken with minces ginger and green onions and the home made fish porridge that my MIL made.  As part of the festivities, we gave my dad, FIL, our kids' uncles, and close friends that we consider  their "uncles" a gift.  I thought it would be fun to make a tag in the shape of an Aloha shirt since many of the men that we know like wearing the shirts.   I stamped an Aloha shirt pattern that I found online

and my kids wrote a message to each person.   My son whined a bit, but he did a great job in writing a message on 12 of the tags.  My daughter good job in signing her name on the tags.  I think the tag matched perfectly with the bag that we put the gifts in.

Now that Father's Day is over it's time to move onto some other projects.  Have a great week everyone!

In Honor of Father's Day

Happy Friday!  I am so happy that it's the end of another week.  It was a very productive week, but a tiring one too.  I'm ready for some time to relax, spend time with my family, and celebrate Father's Day.  Well, today in honor of Father's Day this weekend I wanted to share the tea swap card that I made last month

and the one that I received from Jan.

Both of us followed the optional masculine theme and I followed the optional color theme of blue and green. Before I end my post for today I wanted to share a picture of a fun time that I had at work yesterday.   Work is always pretty enjoyable, but yesterday was extra fun with when the African drummers and dancers performed.

Their performance was awesome!   Thanks for dropping by today.  Have a wonderful weekend and a memorable time honoring your father.

Two Cute Mice and Two B-day Cards

I hope that everyone had a nice weekend.  Mine was a very fun and productive one.  My family started off our weekend by going to Disneyland on Friday after my kids got out of school.  We had a very nice and relaxing time there.  We were especially happy to get to watch the new Pixar Parade with the characters from the Monster U movie in it.  My daughter and I were very thrilled to get to take a picture with both of the mice from Cinderella.  We've seen them by themselves but never together.  They are both so cute!

I was also thrilled to satisfy my craving of having a turkey leg and a soft pretzel.  If you happen to be at Disneyland I encourage you to get them.  They are super ono!  For the rest of the weekend I worked on paper work, wrote out certificates and decorated labels for a goodie bags for the students on my caseload.
Decorating the labels was the closest I got to doing any crafting.

Before ending this post I wanted to share two more b-day cards that I made a few weeks ago.  The first one is an easel card. Here is the card open

and a close up of the flower.

This is the second b-day card that I made.

I was having lots so much fun making the flowers that I decided to make a third card. Yes, I was a roll!  LOL!

I made the flowers using the retired tag punch from SU.  Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great week!

Two Birthday Cards

I hope that everyone had a good week.  Mine was pretty good even though I was having problems with my computer all week at home and at work.  I was hoping to be able to post earlier this week, but I was having a hard time getting into my blog without it taking forever.  Thanks for your patience in waiting for me to post some thing this week.  I can't believe that it's been a week already since I posted.  Even though it was a pretty good week, I didn't do any crafting.  (I think playing the various games on Facebook has taken over my crafting time.  If you haven't started playing them, it's probably good that you don't.  LOL!)  There are few cards that I made that I have not yet posted.  Two of the cards that I have not yet shared are the b-day cards that I made for two friends.  I always like to make cards that coordinate with the gift that I am giving to the person. For one of my friends I gave her a Hello Kitty themed gift so I made her a card with Hello .

I cut Hello Kitty out using my Cricut and used on of my Stampin Up punches for the flowers, the scallop, and to emboss the levers and the center of the flowers.  The background was embossing using my "Happy B-day" Cuttlebug embossing folder.  The second card that I made is for a friend that I gave a Hawaiian themed gift to.

For the card, I used an old stamp set from Lizzie Anne Designs called "Garden Isle."  For the water I crimped paper to make the waves and used sandpaper to make the sand.   Here is part of her gift.

Before ending this post for today I wanted to share that my daughter and I had went to the Sanrio store last weekend and got to vote for our favorite Saniro character.  My daughter was so excited! It was her first time voting.  We were only allowed one vote per family, but if I were to vote I am sure you can easily guess who I would choose. Here I am putting my daughter's ballot into the super cute ballot box.

I am not sure if you can tell, but the board behind me has all the Sanrio characters that ever existed.  I didn't know that there were so many of them.  I don't recognize all of them.  Thanks for spending a little bit of your day with me.  Have a great weekend everyone!
